A laser pointer for your Mac screen
Laser Pointer puts a glowing dot on your cursor, so people watching a call or a recording can see exactly where you are pointing. It belongs to the Studio Features in Pro.
Get Phosphor for MacHow to turn it on
Use the Laser Pointer card on the Features tab, the Studio list in the menu bar, or the hotkey. The toggle and the hotkey are the same switch.
Studio Mode is the master switch for the Studio features. It is off every time you launch Phosphor, and turning on Laser Pointer from its card turns Studio Mode on for you.
What you can change
- Color: Red or Green. The default is Red.
- Size: 4 to 40 pt. The default is 12.
- Glow: 0 to 100%. The default is 60%.
- Trail persistence: on or off. The default is on.
Trail
Hold the left mouse button and drag to leave a trail behind the dot. With trail persistence on, the trail holds for 2 seconds and then fades over 1.5 seconds. With it off, the trail fades in a quarter of a second.
Hotkey
The default is Control+Option+Command+L. You can change it on the Laser Pointer card with Change, and Reset puts the default back. A Studio hotkey needs at least two modifier keys, and it only works while Studio Mode is on.
Permissions
None. Laser Pointer does not ask for Screen Recording, Accessibility or Input Monitoring.
Good to know
- With more than one display, the dot shows only on the display that holds the cursor.
- The dot follows the cursor. It does not click or capture anything.
- It is visible in screen shares and recordings.
- It does nothing while Studio Mode is off.
- Pro is a one-time purchase of $19.99. Studio is free if you bought Pro before October 18, 2026.
